01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
One of the pleasures of ordering matcha at RYU-RYU is being able to choose your bowl. It can be served with miniature Japanese sweets, making it a good choice when you want to take your time over tea and something sweet. One visitor also enjoyed iced matcha with sweets on a hot day. It offers a refreshing alternative to a hot drink and a place to rest after a temple visit.
The amazake is served with goji berries, and you can add ginger to taste. A diner who ordered it for 500 yen remembered the warming drink as a particularly enjoyable experience. It’s another option if you’re in the mood for something different from matcha.
This small Japanese-style café shares its space with a bonsai shop. The interior, with its old chest of drawers and miniature bonsai, is part of its character. There is also terrace seating, where you can enjoy a drink in fine weather.
The café is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 16:30. Cash only.
